Program Highlights
- Case Study: Local and International Contents
Putting great emphasis on case study, Tsinghua SEM utilizes a case-based teaching system that supplements actual business circumstances in China. It has furnished a fund to develop a center of business cases and has purchased the usage of Harvard Business School cases. Its faculty are constantly using a combination of Chinese and foreign cases in their teaching so that students can enhance their abilities to analyze and solve problems in various business contexts.
- Curriculum Emphasis on China’s Business Practice
Upon the completion of core courses, Global MBA Program students are encouraged to further their studies by taking electives on different subjects in order to develop professional competencies in line with their personal career interests and objectives. Electives cover a wide range of Chinese business practices as well as experiences and lessons from global business. Tsinghua University excels in two areas in its offering of electives: knowledge of the Chinese business environment and quantitative electives.
- Chinese Business Environment: Course offerings include learning about China's accounting system, China's stock market, and strategy for foreign companies entering China as well as Chinese companies facing additional competition. In addition, because of the development of Chinese companies, students also study strategy for Chinese companies that are both entering and operating in foreign markets.
- Quantitative Electives: Tsinghua University is known throughout the world as China's best university. Many International MBA students choose to take electives in advanced corporate finance, derivatives, and information systems. In addition, the Tsinghua Science Park (a five minute walk from Tsinghua SEM), features some of China's best engineers working in both small to medium sized companies (as well as MNC's such as Microsoft and Google).
- Top Quality and Diverse Student Body
The reputation of Tsinghua’s Global MBA Program draws top students from China and abroad. Chinese students need to take the National Entrance Examination to apply for MBA programs in China and Tsinghua MBA ranks first in the number of applicants received annually. A rigorous interview process is then used to further ensure a top quality student body. The ratio of admissions to applications is the lowest in China, making it the most challenging program to gain admission to.
- International Collaboration
Many Global MBA students choose to do an exchange during their third semester. Besides the study abroad option, Tsinghua is continually adding more opportunities for students to interact with other MBA students from prestigious universities around the world. There are continuous networking events with MBA students, venture capitalists, or industry professionals that come to China for a short stay.
